Public Relation Training: Memorize the Journey

Association of Press Publishers (SPS) held the public relation training for the second time. The training was for all public relation personels from all companies and agencies in Indonesia. This time, the theme was “Photo Journalism and Travel Writing: Write the Journey, Create the Value.”

The event was held on last 17 to 19 April in Palembang, South Sumatera. It will be done routinely once a year. On that occasion, there were 36 participants from 20 different agencies.

SPS Corporate Communication, Theresia Septiyani, said, the purpose of this event was to train the public relation personels about documenting the office’s journeys. There were a lot of valuable things during the tour of duty, but unfortunately, the journeys had not been recorded well.

“Through this training, we teach them how to write and record the tour of duty. Those are the most valuable experience we have to share,” said Theresia.

Besides, the well-documented activities can be published in media because of the high news value for public. As the result, the image of the agency will rise and increase.

In this event, the participants got the material about how to write well from SPS Excutive Director, Asmono Wikan. The session continued with sharing session with PERHUTANI Head of Public Relation Bureau, Susetiyaningsih, about how to manage agency internal media.

On the next day, the activity continued with journalistic photography which was given by Kompas photojournalist, Agus Susanto. And also about writing feature material which was given by Managing Editor of Gateway Magazine, Yudasmoro.

On the last day, all participants were taken to Kuto Besak Palace to demonstrate what they have got about writing feature and photography.

Every participants got certificate which was signed by Dahlan Iskan, the General Chairman of SPS. The best three participants got Media Directory 2013 by SPS, they are Lilis Nurlailah from Indonesia Power, Djoko Pitoyo from Bank of Indonesia, and Habibi from Ministry of Forestry. *anneila
