Photography Training at the "City of Gudeg"

Association of Press Publishers (SPS) held the InHouse Training with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for the second time. On this occassion, the training was about journalistic photo and traveling feature photo.

This event was held on 3-5 July in Grand Quality Hotel, Yogyakarta. As the symbol of education and cultural heritage, this city was the right choice to be the “photo hunting place”.

There were 23 public relation officers from each section in ESDM. The first session started after the participants checked-in and lunch.

It was opened by SPS Executive Director, Asmono Wikan, who gave an introduction about journalistic photo. After that, the senior journalist from Antara, Hermanus, explained about the various of journalistic photo. The participants were asked to take photo objects around the hotel.

On the second day, Iwan Kurniawan, a photographer from Works Agency, gave a matter about how to choose angle and making a traveling and landscape photos. On this session, the participants were taken to Prambanan Temple. When they captured objects, two committees from SPS became the model.

After the capturing session in Prambanan, all participants were back to Sambisari Room in Grand Quality Hotel. The evalution of their photos was corrected by Dwi Oblo, the Yogyakarta photographer for National Geographic Indonesia magazine.

All PR Officers were very anthusiastic. Sometimes laughs were heard when Dwi Oblo evaluated a funny photo. After the evaluation was done, Dwi explained about how to make an incredible Traveling Photos.

The last session was closed by TEMPO photographer, Syaifullah. In the last session, Syaifullah gave matters about Feature and Traveling Photos. The training was finished and ended with photo session among the speakers and the participants.

All participants got certificates which signed by SPS Chairman, Dahlan Iskan. Tomorrow morning, all of them were checked-out and prepared to go back to Jakarta. *anneila
